SUMMARY:Introducing Guernsey’s Adult Skills Framework & New Skills Board
DESCRIPTION:Join the G8 for an online event marking the launch of Guernsey’s new Adult Skills Strategy and the establishment of the Adult Skills Board.\nThe G8’s pre-election Voice of Guernsey Business Survey highlighted persistent concerns around skills gaps, confirming that a skilled, adaptable and resilient workforce will be a determining factor in the island’s long-term economic success. The Guernsey Institute Adult Skills Strategy directly responds to these concerns, placing adult learning at the heart of Guernsey’s social and economic future.\nThis session will explore Guernsey’s current and future skills needs, why adult learning is critical to economic resilience, and how the new framework will support employers, individuals and the wider island economy.\nA panel discussion will bring together representatives from government, business and education to discuss skills gaps, workforce challenges, and how a more coordinated, long-term approach to skills development can help Guernsey adapt and thrive.\nPanellists:\n\nDeputy Sasha Kazantseva-Miller: Deputy Sasha Kazantseva-Miller is a member of the States of Guernsey with a strong interest in education, skills and long-term workforce development. She is a vocal advocate for inclusive, future-focused policy and for ensuring Guernsey’s skills system supports both economic resilience and social wellbeing.\nDeputy Paul Montague: Deputy Paul Montague is a member of the States of Guernsey with experience in economic development and public service. He brings a strategic perspective on how skills, productivity and workforce planning underpin Guernsey’s long-term economic success.\nDr Louise Misselke: Dr Louise Misselke is an education leader with expertise in adult learning, skills development and workforce capability. She has played a key role in shaping Guernsey’s Adult Skills Strategy, focusing on creating accessible, flexible pathways that support learners, employers and the wider economy.\n\nThe session will be hosted and moderated by Glen Tonks, Chair of the IoD Guernsey Branch.\nThis event will be of interest to anyone involved in Guernsey’s business and charity community and is open to all G8 member associations.\n
