DESCRIPTION:Abundant Futures is a long-term, socially engaged project commissioned by ArtHouse Jersey and led by Dana Olărescu, exploring how food justice and migration shape life in Jersey. At the heart of the project is a simple question with big implications: what does it mean to be ‘local’?\nWe’re delighted to welcome Dr. Mariana Pinto Leitão Pereira, Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Heritage for Global Challenges Research Centre, University of York. Dr Pereira will lead research in Jersey looking at how migrant-led social change can grow, and the challenges and opportunities along the way. Her work will include interviews with people who have migration experiences and with local partners, culminating in a report with practical policy recommendations.\nAt this launch event you will:\n\nHear how the research will be conducted and why it matters to Jersey now.\nSee how academic research connects with Abundant Futures’ arts activity, community workshops and public engagement.\nFind out ways to get involved – from contributing a story to collaborating on creative or outreach activities, or taking part in interviews.\nJoin an open conversation on our guiding question: “What does it mean to be local?”\n\nThis event is for anyone who cares about community: residents with migration experiences, long-time Islanders, cultural practitioners, educators, journalists, service providers and policymakers.
