SUMMARY:Sober supper club
DESCRIPTION:Islanders are invited to enjoy an evening of great food, drinks and conversation as the Sober Supper Club returns to Nutmeg on Tuesday 4 November, from 5:30–8:30pm, featuring Joni from Kooky Lifestyle.\nWhether you’re sober-curious, taking a break from alcohol, or just looking for something different to do on a Tuesday night, this relaxed and social event offers a fresh take on a night out.\nGuests will be welcomed with a refreshing 0% cocktail on arrival, before joining Joni for a guided tasting experience that explores the vibrant world of alcohol-free alternatives.\nThe drink tasting will be complemented by a selection of canapés specially prepared by the chefs at Nutmeg.\nLife Coach, Paula Jenkins, will also share her experiences and practical tips for living alcohol-free, joined by Joni for an informal opportunity where attendees can ask questions and join the conversation.\nJoni said: “I’m delighted to be part of the Health Improvement Commission’s event celebrating the positive effects of mindful drinking. It’s exciting to be able to highlight the vast range of alcohol-free options, including sparkling teas and botanical elixirs. I want to bring the best of these brands to Guernsey to complement our fantastic food scene and offer sophisticated, alcohol-free pairing options for everyone to enjoy.”\nPaula said: “I’m excited to share my journey and show how choosing sobriety marked the beginning of a whole new chapter in my life. I woke up to a world beyond my wildest dreams: more energy, better health, peaceful sleep, and a deep connection to myself. Sobriety didn’t take anything away from me — it gave me everything.”\nAndrea Nightingale, Substance Use Lead at the Health Improvement Commission, said: “We’re delighted to be bringing the Sober Supper Club back. It offers islanders a welcoming and sociable space to explore alcohol-free living, while highlighting how small, manageable changes—such as incorporating alcohol-free days—can have a meaningful impact on our health and wellbeing.”\nThe Sober Supper Club is part of Count 14, a campaign that encourages people to reflect on their drinking habits and understand the UK’s low-risk guidelines of no more than 14 units of alcohol per week.\nOriginally developed by NHS Scotland and supported locally by the Health Improvement Commission, Count 14 provides simple, practical tools to help people visualise what 14 units really looks like and understand why it’s safest to spread those drinks over at least three days each week — making sure to include alcohol-free days too.\n
