SUMMARY:Managing Health & Safety in high risk environments
DESCRIPTION:Gallagher Isle of Man will lead a series of seminars starting this month to help employers in the construction industry or those advising industry to identify workplace health and safety risks and implement effective measures to safeguard their staff.\nAndy Northcott, National Sales, Marketing and Distribution Leader at Gallagher Risk Management, is on the Island on 09 October to deliver three sessions at the Santander Work Café. These are being hosted in partnership with Construction Isle of Man (CIOM).\nThe seminars will cover key issues for the construction sector, including the main risks of claims and accidents, companies’ legal obligations and the distinction between competence and negligence in health and safety management. Attendees will also gain practical advice on how to demonstrate effective risk management.\nMr Northcott confirmed that managing risk in any business can be a challenge and in construction, it is absolutely essential. “Health and safety compliance is not just about avoiding claims; it’s about protecting people, reducing risks and building resilient businesses. Employers are responsible for ensuring their staff are not exposed to risks at work so our sessions will provide insight and practical steps to support that requirement.”\n“Health and Safety laws require businesses to provide information, training and supervision where necessary. These seminars will therefore help employers safeguard their existing business, reduce accidents, minimise claims and prosecutions and plan for the future,” he added.\nThe three 45-minute presentations, at 08;30, 11:00 and 13:30 on Thursday 09 October are aimed at members of CIOM along with other local employers in building and construction.\nDebbie Reeve, Chief Officer of Construction Isle Of Man, said: “CIOM are proud to represent over 275 members within the Isle of Man construction sector. The majority of our membership are small and medium-sized businesses and we want to be able to add real value to our members. So we are delighted to partner with Gallagher for this forum, which I am sure will be beneficial to our members and to wider industry.\n“Our organisation represents 275 members within the construction sector, most of which are small and medium-sized businesses, We are therefore delighted to partner with Gallagher and Rossborough in this initiative, which I am sure will be beneficial to our members and the wider industry.”\nTim Mitchell, Managing Director of Rossborough (trading as Gallagher Isle of Man), commented: “We are very pleased to be partnering with the CIOM and delighted to support the local Construction Industry through the changing risk and health and safety landscape.\n“As part of the Gallagher Group for more than a decade, Rossborough can draw on specialist expertise across our Gallagher global network. Gallagher Risk Management provides support in health and safety, fire safety, business continuity, enterprise risk, valuations, forensic accounting, loss adjusting and quantity surveying, all of which can help clients reduce and control risk.”\n
