SUMMARY:30-day Brain Health Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Dementia Jersey is delighted to announce the launch of a new challenge, designed to help islanders understand brain health – and have fun in the process.\nWhile not all cases of dementia are avoidable, the latest research suggests that up to 45% of cases could be avoided through simple lifestyle changes.\nThe 30-Day Challenge is a key part of the ‘Boost Your Brain’ campaign, designed to help islanders build positive habits and consider their daily routines to reduce the risk of dementia.\nWhat is the 30-Day Challenge?\nThe charity is asking the public to sign-up to 30 days of mini ‘brain boosting’ challenges for the month of October. From watching a sunset to dancing while they clean, each of the tasks are fun, simple and positive things to aid brain health as part of a wider lifestyle.\nFor an entry fee of just £5, participants will receive a calendar of creative tasks, a mobile phone wallpaper, and a series of newsletters explaining how and why the tasks are beneficial for brain health. At the end of each week, they’ll also have an opportunity to reflect on their progress.\nAs an added bonus, participants will be in with a chance of winning a ‘Brain Box’ at the end of the month – a hamper of brain-related goodies.\nAnd children can also take part in their own scaled-down version of the challenge for free, with a tailored downloadable calendar that can be accessed via the Dementia Jersey website – meaning all the family can take part!\nClaudine Snape, CEO Dementia Jersey, said: “Our new 30 Day-Challenge is designed to be enjoyable – but also educational. We hope islanders will join in the fun, help to raise funds, and learn more about dementia risk reduction along the way. We’ll certainly be taking part at the Dementia Jersey office, and we urge businesses, as well as families, to rise to the challenge and take part together!”\n
