SUMMARY:Euros screening for local hero Maya Le Tissier
DESCRIPTION:St Martins Athletic Club, in partnership with Skipton International, will be hosting live screenings of England’s UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 group-stage matches this July.\nThe events will celebrate one of Guernsey’s finest footballing talents, Maya Le Tissier, who captains Manchester United.\nMaya, a 23-year-old centre-back from Guernsey, began playing at the age of four with St Martins AC, training alongside boys under the guidance of her father. She went on to become the first female to represent Guernsey’s U-16 boys’ team, blazing a trail for future generations of island footballers.\nOn 5 June 2025, Maya made history as the first player from Guernsey, of any gender, to be selected for England’s senior squad at a major tournament. This\nsummer, St Martins AC invites the community to come together for live match screenings and to show their support as Maya steps onto the European stage.\nMatthew Warren, Saints’ Director of Sponsorship & Fundraising, reflected on Maya’s remarkable journey: “For those of us who were fortunate enough to watch Maya progress from St Martins to captaining Manchester United and representing England, it’s incredibly inspiring. From her early days at our club, her drive and talent have stood out, and now the whole island can take pride in her achievements. We’re thrilled to bring people together to celebrate her success and cheer on the Lionesses.”\nThe St Martins AC clubhouse will be transformed into a vibrant fan zone, complete with two large screens, a fully stocked bar, and a warm, family-friendly atmosphere for all England group games:\n\nEngland v France – 5 July\nEngland v Netherlands – 9 July\nEngland v Wales – 13 July\n\nAaron Walden , Senior Commercial Manager at Skipton International, added: “Maya’s story, from grassroots football in Guernsey to the heart of the Lionesses, is\nexactly what grassroots investment is about. We’re delighted to support St Martins AC in hosting the Euro screenings, bringing the community together to cheer on a genuine local hero.”\nSupporters of all ages are welcome to join. Bring your jerseys, voices, and community spirit as we back Maya and the Lionesses on their Euro journey.\n
