SUMMARY:Sensory drawing family workshop – lunchtime session
DESCRIPTION:Inspired by Alexander’s MAPS workshop delivered to d’Auvergne School, this workshop will explore the abstract drawing processes and experimentation on a large collaborative scroll. The workshop is centred upon sensory learning, play, experimentation and collaboration.\nAlexander Mourant\nAlexander Mourant is an artist, writer and educator based in London. His work has been included in publications such as FT Weekend Magazine, British Journal of Photography, Photograph, Unseen Magazine and Te Greatest Magazine. Solo shows include Aomori at Te Old Truman Brewery and Unseen Amsterdam, alongside group shows at Edel Assanti, Saatchi Gallery and Peckham 24. Mourant is a recipient of grants from ArtHouse Jersey, Jersey Bursary and Arts Council England. He has won the Free Range Award and was nominated for Foam Paul Huf Award. In 2020, Mourant became a member of Revolv Collective. He achieved BA Photography at Falmouth University, and MA Photography at Royal College of Art, London. In addition to his practice, Alexander Mourant is a Visiting Lecturer and Tutor on BA (Hons) Photography at University of Westminster, he believes passionately in the power of creativity.\nMAPS is an island wide project that seeks to build partnerships between professional artists and local schools. MAPS artist educators have devised and delivered unique art projects to twenty eight schools. Each of the artists brought with them a strong foundation in art & design and a commitment to their own creative practice which allowed them to share skills, knowledge and a passion for the visual arts to the classroom.\nDuring the summer months the artists and teachers were asked to explore paper through a series of workshops where they took the role as students. This process provided an opportunity to experiment with new techniques, explore the curriculum and encouraged participants reflect on the process of learning.\n
