SUMMARY:Vale Earth Fair
DESCRIPTION:This year’s festival is on Sunday 24 August 2025. You can expect to hear a huge variety of music and entertainment throughout the Vale Castle’s historic site which will be filled with local and visiting talent.\nThe Vale Earth Fair is the Channel Islands’ longest running music and arts festival and has established itself as a regular fixture on the UK festival circuit, attracting some bigname festival acts such as Bob Vylan, Skindred, Roots Manuva, Buzzcocks, Alabama 3, the Four Owls, Asian Dub Foundation, the Jungle Brothers, and Neville Staple in previous years.\nThis year’s festival will take place across four stages of local and visiting live music acts and two DJ stages as well as some spoken word.\nWe are very excited to announce that we have a pair of headliners for this year’s festival. The Lovely Eggs and Big Special will be on the Castle Stage keeping us all entertained.\nFor The Lovely Eggs (shown in the main picture), being in a band is a way of life. It’s about art. It’s about creativity and expression. It’s about following your own path and doing things your own way. Their wild and wilful independence sets themselves apart from other bands and despite having no management, booking agent, record label or publisher, their album “I am Moron” shot to Number One in the Official UK Independent Charts and they continue to sell out shows across the country. Pretty impressive for a two-person band!\nThe pair have also collaborated with Godfather of Punk Iggy Pop on single “I, Moron” which swiped the number one slot in both the Official U.K. Physical and Vinyl charts. Iggy Pop is a fan of the band and dedicated one of his BBC 6 Music shows to The Lovely Eggs’ work. We don’t think you will need more of a reason to see them that!\nThe band’s two recent singles “Nothing Everything” and “My Mood Wave” both reached Top 40 in the UK Official singles sales charts, with “Nothing/Everything” reaching number 2 in the UK vinyl charts. It was accompanied by a music video from internationally acclaimed artists Wood and Harrison.\nWith observational and often surreal lyrics, The Lovely Eggs have a powerful raw sound that creates the sonic illusion of a band twice their size. They have become known for their ferocious yet joyous live performances. Operating in a world when true authenticity is hard to find, The Lovely Eggs are one of the most exciting, innovative and genuine bands around.\nBig Special are a band that wish to explore the bleak and beautiful honesty of a nation in an ever-growing state of depression through personal experience, poetry, perspective as well as varied and creative music.\nMade from an intense period of reflection during the Lockdowns, finally forming when Joe and Cal reconnected after a decade of odd jobs and projects, Big Special are visceral assault on softer dispositions; a collision of skullcrunching guitars, headwobbling synths and face-belting drums.\nA duo who are louder than bombs, Big Special write about desperation and struggle, about a Britain in decline, about finding pride in your darkest moments, about how the real class war in the UK is always punching downwards. Theirs are songs of hope, and despair, and more hope, because, ultimately, good people win. Songs that channel that voice you hear when you look in the mirror and see your true self – fight songs for a world gone wrong.\nBig Special have recently released a deluxe edition of their debut album ‘Postindustrial Hometown Blues’, featuring remixes, demos and live recordings.\nThe expanded version of their UK Top 40 album includes new interpretations from Andy Bell, Public Service Broadcasting, Robbie Major of Benefits, Sleaford Mods, and Simon Scott’s Three Quarter Skies project.\nThe band are set to perform their largest headline show to date at London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town at the end of this month, before joining Pixies as support on their UK arena tour.\nKeep an eye on our social media pages for updates on new announcements and acts to come – find us on Facebook and Instagram.\nIf you can’t wait until the end of August for a fun night out, we have a DJ night at the De La Rue this Saturday (8 March) for International Women’s Day. It’s going to be a great night while the Lo Fidelity Sparkles Bitches and friends keep everyone dancing all night long! Come along from 8pm until late and support our lady DJs on the decks.\n\nProceeds from the Vale Earth Fair are split between humanitarian organisations Safer, the Linda Norgrove Foundation and the Burma Campaign UK.\nIf you would like to find out more about volunteering with the Vale Earth Fair, please contact info@valeearthfair.org or message us on Facebook.\n
