SUMMARY:Shelter Trust Soup Kitchen
DESCRIPTION:Islanders are once again invited to enjoy a fantastic selection of soups, kindly donated by 40 chefs from local hotels, restaurants and organisations at the annual Shelter Trust Soup Kitchen.\nThe event will see more than 3,000 cups of soup and 3,000 chunks of bread served over a four-hour period, or until the soups run out!\nA minimum donation of £3 (by cash or card) is asked for on the day, in exchange for a mug of soup and some bread. All are invited to come along and enjoy festive music and carol singing by school and island choirs whilst enjoying a piping hot cup of soup.\nThe event, an idea first formed by Shelter supporter  Michelle Cuthbert 26 years ago, has to date raised almost £250,000 for the Trust. It has grown into one of the primary fundraising events for the Shelter Trust, which supports more than 600 individuals each year.\nThanks to sponsorship for the 9th successive year by LGT Wealth Management, plus the soups, bread, butter and equipment donated by the Trust’s many supporters, all money raised on the day goes directly to supporting Jersey’s homeless community.\nCommenting on their continued support, Dan McAlister, CEO of LGT Wealth Management said: “We are proud to support this vital event once again, reflecting our dedication to the Jersey community and admirable support of the work delivered by the Shelter Trust in aiding the Island’s homeless.”\nRichard Robins is once again heading up a team of volunteers who work tirelessly in the run up to the event to ensure everything runs smoothly. Richard said:  “Each year, we are looking for ways to raise awareness of the important work delivered by the Shelter Trust and I’m excited to announce that this year, as well as serving a fantastic range of soups, we are launching the Shelter Trust Soup Kitchen recipe book which will be on sale at the event.\n“Featuring recipes from Shelter Trust chefs, local hotels and restaurants and Trust supporters, the book priced at £5 will make an excellent Christmas present or stocking filler. We are grateful to everyone who supported the content, design and print of this book, ensuring every penny raised will go directly to the Shelter Trust. By buying this collection,  you’re helping us provide essential meals to those who need them most.”\n
