DESCRIPTION:Jersey Cheshire Home invites you to wear red on 3rd of December to show support and raise awareness for disability inclusion.\nTo mark International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3rd 2024, Jersey Cheshire Home has launched its ‘Red for Ability’ campaign. This aim of this initiative is to raise awareness, promote inclusion and generate support for individuals in Jersey living with disabilities.\nWith the theme, ‘Supporting Ability, Shaping Inclusion’ Jersey Cheshire Home is asking islanders to wear red on Tuesday December the 3rd and to participate in various campaign activities designed promote understanding and inclusivity.\nDonna Abel, CEO of Jersey Cheshire Home commented on the importance of the campaign, noting that community involvement is essential for building a more inclusive society.\nShe said: “At Jersey Cheshire Home we are committed to empowering people to live with greater independence and dignity. This campaign is a chance for islanders to work together to raise awareness of the many issues relating to those with disabilities and to also make a tangible difference in the lives of our residents.”\nAs part of the campaign, Jersey Cheshire Home is launching an interactive social media challenge under the hashtag #RedForAbility. All islanders are  encouraged to post videos of themselves completing a small challenge related to disability awareness, such as performing a task with one hand or navigating a mini obstacle course blindfolded, whilst wearing red of course.\nParticipants are encouraged to tag Jersey Cheshire Home in their posts and also challenge three friends to join in. The team at the Home hope that this will create a widespread of awareness and engagement throughout social networks.\nSchools and businesses are encouraged host their own ‘Red for Ability’ day and plan simple events like cake sales, awareness assemblies or easy to organise ‘donate to wear red’ days.\n
