SUMMARY:The Lullaby Choir in Concert
DESCRIPTION:Two evenings featuring a special choir performing original and traditional lullabies and the stories behind them, showcasing the creativity and generosity of community members who have come together to bring these unique songs to life.\nOver the past two years, The Lullaby Project has been crafting a portrait of Jersey through collecting the lullabies sung to its children. Musicians Beth Allen, Janet Swan, Carol Donaldson, Thabo Mkwananzi, Katie Rose Bennett, and Esther Rose Parkes were commissioned in the spring this year to work with the collection of over 60 lullabies to create choir arrangements for the Lullaby Choir. This commissioning process resulted in 14 choir pieces. The next phase involved recruiting members for the lullaby choir, with rehearsals starting at the beginning of September.\nThese concerts are the culmination of 11 weeks of learning and rehearsing original and traditional lullabies especially arranged for the Lullaby Choir. The Lullaby Choir will be performing lullabies in Urdu, Dutch, Māori, and English.\nLed by Esther Rose Parkes, with fellow artist Susanne Kudielka, the Lullaby Choir is a unique mix of individuals with varying levels of experience in singing united by a shared passion for lullabies and singing.\nThe Lullaby Project has been created, curated and produced by artists Esther Rose Parkes and Susanne Kudielka with the Moving Arts Collective and co-commissioned by ArtHouse Jersey. It has received support from The One Foundation, Jersey Community Foundation with funds from the Channel Islands Lottery and the Connect Me Government Grant.\nBoth concerts are free, but due to high demand and limited seating, it is important to reserve a ticket.\n
