SUMMARY:An evening of organ favourites
DESCRIPTION:Peter Harris, our very own well known organist, has put together a lovely evening of classical music.\nThe evening will also provide some insights into Parkinson’s from people living with the condition.\nPeter Harris has been entertaining Guernsey audiences with his piano and organ playing for over 40 years – his series of seven Organ Fantasia concerts at St James being particularly significant. He studied at the Royal College of Music in London with Colin Horsley, one of Britain’s finest pianists, Herrick Bunney,  organist at St Giles’ Cathedral Edinburgh and international concert organist Nicholas Dandy who can trace his musical family tree back to J S Bach.\nPeter’s teaching career started at Redrice College in Hampshire where he was Director of Music. In 1981 he moved to Guernsey to join the music department of Elizabeth College becoming Director of Music .\nThe evening will also feature an exhibition of art by Paul Killick, a well known local watercolourist. Some of his watercolours on display in the Church will be available to buy.\nThe concert will be complemented by insightful talks by those living with Parkinson’s in the Bailiwick . The short talks will be given by Jonathan Hooley, Sue Whitlock, Chris Betley and Paul Killick on their diagnoses and personal experiences with Parkinson’s.\nDoors opening at 19:00 for the concert beginning at 20:00\nThere will be a short Interlude where refreshments will be available.\nEntry by donation – no need to book.\n
