SUMMARY:Countering Financial Crime conference
DESCRIPTION:A flagship event is being organised this autumn to strengthen efforts to protect the Isle of Man from the harmful impact of financial crime.\nThe Countering Financial Crime Conference 2024, scheduled to take place at the Villa Marina on Wednesday 9 October, will bring together a diverse group of experts, practitioners, and policymakers.\nSpeakers will share their professional insight and highlight best practice aimed at counteracting money laundering, terrorist financing, proliferation financing, and other financial crime.\nThe conference is being organised by the Isle of Man Financial Services Authority in conjunction with Island agencies including the Government’s AML Policy Office, Financial Crime Partnership, Gambling Supervision Commission, Financial Intelligence Unit, Constabulary, Customs and Immigration, HM Attorney General’s Chambers, and Department for Enterprise.\nA number of off-Island presenters will provide an international perspective to a range of current and future financial crime challenges.\nPredominantly funded from the Seized Asset Fund, the event will support efforts to exchange knowledge, build capacity, and help shape the development of robust strategies to maintain the integrity of the Island’s financial services sector.\nIt will also provide an opportunity for the Island to demonstrate its commitment to countering financial crime, as well as showcase the steps being taken to reinforce its position as a leader in this critical area.\nDavid Baker, Senior Manager in the Authority’s AML/CFT Supervision Division, said: “The public and private sectors continue to work collaboratively to combat financial crime and maintain the Island’s status as an excellent place to do business. The Countering Financial Crime Conference 2024 will enable participants to engage in a comprehensive dialogue on a range of matters that are crucial to the Island’s economic wellbeing.”\n
