SUMMARY:Free Rag Trade initiative: Free clothing and household items
DESCRIPTION:Free Rag Trade, an innovative initiative aimed at reducing clothing waste while providing free essentials to those in need, announces its upcoming pop-up event at NatWest International, Library Place, from Monday 20th to Friday 24th May, 10 am to 4:30 pm daily.\nFounded by Kalina Le Marquand in May 2023 Free Rag Trade offers a sustainable solution to the staggering amount of clothing ending up in landfills each year. With over 300,000 tonnes of clothing discarded in household rubbish bins in the UK alone, and an estimated £140 million worth ending up in landfill, the initiative aims to combat this issue by recycling perfectly good items and redistributing them to those who require them, free of charge.\nKalina Le Marquand, also the founder of Pretty Eco Pots, another free trade enterprise, expressed her motivation behind founding Free Rag Trade: “I founded Free Rag Trade as I saw an opportunity to reduce the amount of clothing waste happening. In the UK alone over 300,000 tonnes of clothing goes in household rubbish bins each year, with an estimated £140 million ending up in landfills. Free Rag Trade is a way to try and combat this issue, recycle perfectly good items and help those in need.”\nThe Free Rag Trade pop-up at NatWest International welcomes both customers and non-customers to visit and benefit from the initiative. Visitors are invited to take what they need, with no cost involved and no obligation to give anything in return.\nThose interested in supporting the initiative by donating items in advance of the pop-up event can contact Kalina or bring their donations along on the day.\nJoin us at NatWest International, Library Place, from Monday 20th to Friday 24th May, and be a part of the movement towards a more sustainable and compassionate community.\n
