SUMMARY:Tour de Jersey
DESCRIPTION:Get on your bikes this summer for Jersey’s very own version of Tour de France!\nTour de Jersey, generously sponsored by Mourant, is on Sunday 14 July and is a fantastic opportunity for islanders of all ages and abilities to get out and about on two wheels.\nWe’ve got our Full Tour (100km) – for those after a big challenge, the Half Tour (50km) – for anyone wanting to test themselves but not feeling quite ready for the Full Tour, the Railway Tour (24k) – perfect for those starting to cycle longer distances, and the Mini Tour (7km) – our family route for the novice and young cyclists, or people on scooters and balance bikes.\nAll routes start at the Albert Pier – with the Full and Half Tours setting off at 07:00, followed by the Railway and Mini Tours at 10:30. Sign up fees vary depending on which route you choose and your age – and participants are encouraged to raise at least £50 in sponsorship.\nScott Douglas, Events Manager at Jersey Hospice Care, said: “The Tour de Jersey has a great sense of community. It’s an event aimed at getting everyone out on their bicycles, no matter their experience, to explore and enjoy the island. There’s a route to suit everyone, and you can build on it year on year!\n“By taking part in Tour de Jersey you are helping us to raise the vital funds we need to provide the best palliative care and support to anyone in Jersey with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition. Last year we supported nearly 800 islanders, whether that’s as patients in our In Patient Unit, at home or in the community with our Specialist Palliative Care Team, or through emotional and bereavement support. All of our services are delivered free of charge thanks to islanders supporting events such as this one.”\nJersey Hospice Care is also excited to launch a new partnership with Mourant for this year’s event.\nDaniel Birtwistle, Managing Partner, Mourant Jersey said: “We’re delighted that Mourant is sponsoring the Tour de Jersey this year. Inclusion is a key business and people priority for us and this event is a prime example of an activity that caters for all.\n“We have many motivated cyclists within our firm and members of the Mourant Jersey office are looking forward to participating in the challenge, as well as volunteering to help out on the day.\n“As always, the Tour de Jersey will no doubt be a wonderful addition to this summer’s activities on the Island, help to foster the community spirit that Jersey is so well known for, and raise funds for this very worthy cause.”\n
