SUMMARY:Dementia Jersey pop up: Our day out
DESCRIPTION:Dementia Jersey is thrilled to announce their ‘Our Day Out’ exhibition, hosted by ArtHouse Jersey at the Greve de Lecq Barracks. This charming exhibition showcases the talented work of participants from Dementia Jersey’s Art Exploration groups.\nThe artwork in the exhibition is inspired by the group’s excursion to the Pallot Steam & Motor Museum in Trinity in June. Their artwork reflects the memories and emotions evoked by their day out and other cherished outings from their past. Alongside the exhibited pieces, the artists’ personal stories and inspirations will be shared, providing a deeper connection to their work.\nThis is the second year the two organisations have collaborated on an exhibition, showcasing artwork by people living with dementia and their carers.\nDementia Jersey will be offering teas, coffees, and cakes for a small donation. The unique exhibition space provides a welcoming atmosphere for all to appreciate the creativity and talent of the artists.\nClaudine Snape, CEO Dementia Jersey said: “We’d like to thank Arthouse Jersey for their support in hosting us and helping raise the profile of the art group, who produce such wonderful work and have a great time doing it. It’s just one of the free therapeutic groups we offer for people with dementia and their carers which also include music, seated exercise, swimming, gardening, gaming, walking and pétanque which all aim to support people to live well with dementia”\nArtHouse Jersey’s Head of Programme, James Tyson said “We are delighted to be continuing this ongoing partnership with Dementia Jersey to showcase their Art Exploration group’s artworks from this past year. For everyone the opportunity to have a dedicated and supported creative space brings so many benefits not least in terms of confidence and social skills, as well as a space to give expression to the complexities of everyday life. We hope this exhibition provides an inspiring space that also provides a focus towards International Alzheimer’s Awareness Month.”\nDementia Jersey’s weekly art sessions are run by art teacher Lucy Blackmore and provide an invaluable creative and social outlet for those living with dementia. The group gives participants the opportunity to use art as a visual language, which can give freedom to expression and an increase in confidence.\n
