SUMMARY:Book launch of ‘Nero’, from bestselling author Conn Iggulden
DESCRIPTION:Superstar historical fiction author Conn Iggulden is coming to Alderney on June 1st as part of his book launch tour.\nHe’s chosen the island as his Channel Islands launchpad for his latest novel ‘Nero’, published on May 23rd, because he has been unable to attend the Alderney Literary Festival as a speaker due to prior commitments.\nAlderney Literary Trust founder Isabel Picornell said: “I’ve been a fan of Conn’s since before he became famous. I’ve asked him to come to the festival several times but he’s never been able to make the date. He couldn’t make it for this year’s festival either but suggested a date to coincide with the book launch. We’re delighted he’s coming here which demonstrates the recognition the Alderney Literary Festival now has.”\nConn Iggulden is one of the most successful authors of historical fiction writing today. A former English teacher and a passionate advocate for the power of stories, he has written bestselling series on Julius Caesar, Genghis Khan and the Wars of the Roses, as well as two stand-alone novels: Dunstan, set in the red-blooded world of tenth-century England, and The Falcon of Sparta, in which he returned to Ancient World themes.\nBoth instalments of his Athenian series, The Gates of Athens and Protector, and his recent Golden Age series, Lion and Empire, are Sunday Times bestsellers. He has been described as ‘one of our finest historical novelists’ by the Daily Express.\nHe also co-authored The Dangerous Book for Boys with his brother Hal.\nHe will be speaking at The Georgian House orangery in Victoria Street, Alderney, on Saturday June 1st (2.30-4pm).\nTickets are £10, free to 16s and under. Tickets will be available from the Visitor Centre in Alderney in due course but in the meantime historical fiction enthusiasts can email to register their interest.\n
