SUMMARY:Festival of Adult Learning
DESCRIPTION:TGI College is organising a Festival of Adult Learning which will run from Monday 29 April to Saturday 4 May 2024.\nSponsored by Sovereign Trust, the event will celebrate all areas of adult education, highlighting the benefits of life-long learning, recognising the achievements of adults who have embraced learning opportunities and demonstrating the positive impact learning can have on all aspects of someone’s life.\nDuring the event, TGI college will showcase some of the opportunities available, with the aim of engaging with all areas of the local community.\nActivities will include, demonstrations, free sample classes and taster sessions as well as static displays in a variety of locations around the island.\nJane Fears, Business Development Director for TGI College said: “This is the first time we have run this type of event. It’s the ideal opportunity to raise the profile of life-long learning and we hope to inspire more adults to try something new. Learning doesn’t have to be something you’re afraid of. It can have truly transformational impact on lives and we are excited to be able to showcase that during this event.”\nStephen Hare, Managing Director of Sovereign added: “We are delighted to be able to support this initiative. Sovereign has been sponsoring the Silver Surfers IT course for some years and this event is a great way of highlighting what’s available on the island to parts of our community who may not be aware of the range of possibilities they have on their doorstep and perhaps encourage them to have a go at something they’ve never tried before.”\nActivities will be taking place around the island at St Martin’s, Cobo and Styx Community Centres as well as the College itself; displays and information points will also be located at Health Connections’ Smith Street store, Guille Allès Library and Beau Sejour. A full itinerary of the week will be available on the college website and will be updated over the next few weeks as the schedule is finalised.\n\nPictured: Left to right –  Jane Fears – Business Development Director, TGI College; Allan Drummond – Lecturer Hospitality & Catering, TGI College; Elizabeth Grafton – CSR Coordinator, Sovereign Trust\n
