Rachel was at the forefront of pushing the Domestic Abuse Bill through Parliament and was instrumental in getting non-fatal strangulation on the Statute Book.\nLisa Leventhal, Freeda CEO, said: “International Women’s Day serves as a poignant reminder of the challenges women face globally. It is a day to amplify the voices of survivors, highlight the need for support systems, and foster a collective commitment to ending violence against women. By coming together on this day, we strengthen our resolve to create a world where women can live with dignity, safety, and equality. Rachel and our other guests will provide a look into the reality faced by survivors, and why we must remain committed in our advocacy, working towards an island free from domestic abuse.”\nMeet Rachel Williams\nRachel Williams is a leading advocate in the campaign against domestic violence. She is a survivor of 18 years of severe domestic abuse.\nFollowing the end of her abuse and the loss of her son, Rachel now campaigns tirelessly to help other survivors.\nShe is at the forefront of pushing the domestic abuse bill through Parliament, and on 13th September 2019, hosted the first ever survivor-led domestic abuse conference in South Wales: Stand Up to Domestic Abuse (#sutda), which brought together many survivors and professionals. Rachel is brave, kind, and passionate, and has dedicated her life to helping women all over the country.\nFrom sitting on domestic abuse project boards, to speaking to the national media, delivering training she was also instrumental in adding non-fatal strangulation on the Statute Book, Rachel shows authenticity in every action, every word she speaks. She changes the domestic abuse sector by bringing all of these voices together, and changes the lives of the women she is representing.\n
