DESCRIPTION:Jersey’s economic future will be discussed in an exciting kickoff to the IoD Jersey Leaders’ Lunch 2024 series on Friday 23 February.\nTom Holvey (pictured), Chief Economic Advisor for the Government of Jersey, will be the guest speaker for the forthcoming event, which is proudly sponsored by Lloyds Bank International.\nTom moved to Jersey in March 2022 to take on the position of Chief Economic Advisor for the Government of Jersey. The Chief Economist’s advice shapes every aspect of government policy and his responsibilities also include delivering the Future Economy Programme, which seeks to address the challenge of the Island’s ageing demographic by improving productivity across all sectors and developing new business sectors.\nHe has more than 20 years’ experience in economics, policy/strategy management and transformation as a senior public official, local politician, and economist. Before moving to Jersey, Tom helped establish the UK Infrastructure Bank as the inaugural Chief Impact Officer, and he previously had leadership roles in the Covid PPE recovery programme and EU Exit for the UK’s Department for Health and Social Care. Additionally also working as the Chief Economist for another island economy, St Helena, bringing experience of the constraints and opportunities such economies will face.\nHe served as a Councillor in York from 2003 to 2011, developing his understanding across a spectrum of public policy realms, and he has gained substantial board experience across diverse sectors, spanning charities, public entities, and private organisations.\nIoD Jersey Chair, Natasha Egré, said: “We are delighted that Tom has agreed to be our speaker for the first Leaders’ Lunch of 2024.
