SUMMARY:Joyous Childhood Family Event
DESCRIPTION:Families are invited to join Guernsey’s first ever Joyous Childhood Family Event in January, with a wide range of stalls and activities to be enjoyed.\nThe event, hosted at Beau Sejour on Saturday 13th January from 9.30am-12.30pm, is aimed at children under the age of five but there will be plenty of fun for the whole family.\nMore than 20 services and charities will be taking part in the event, organised by the States’ Early Years Team.\nActivities will be focused on supporting development in young children and keeping them healthy. They include:\n\nChildren’s clothes swap, run by the Clean Earth Trust\nBalance bikes for young children to try, brought by the Health Improvement Commission\nSing and story time with Guille Alles Library\nGet Active with the Sports Commission\nInfant CPR with St John Ambulance Training Services\nMore than 20 stalls\n\nThere will also be two showings of the Snail and the Whale in the cinema, however tickets for this are fully booked with more than 600 issued.\nRuth Sharp, Head of Early Years, said: “We’re hoping this is going to be a really well-attended and fun event. While it is aimed at families with children under five, which includes babies and expectant parents, older siblings are also welcome. It is a free event and there will be plenty for the whole family to enjoy.\n“Our brains develop faster between pregnancy and age five than any other time in our lives. Our early childhood experiences shape our brains for the future. We want to celebrate the early years and support all parents to help their children thrive. Every child under five years old who watches the Snail and the Whale will receive a goody bag and we would like to thank Investec and Help a Guernsey Child who have provided sponsorship for these bags.\n” here will be a lot going on, with children able to take part in interactive sessions at our staging area, sing, listen to stories, be active and learn some first aid skills throughout the morning.”\n
