DESCRIPTION:Grant Thornton is holding a breakfast seminar on 25 January 2024 looking at Forensic Accounting: Matrimonial & Trust Investigations.\nThe seminar will provide an opportunity for professionals to learn more about best practices we have experienced in this field.\nSome of the key areas which will be covered are:\n\nThe role of forensic accountants in divorce proceedings;\nIdentifying and valuing marital assets;\nTracing hidden assets or income;\nTypes of trust investigations and engagements undertaken by forensic accountants;\nIssues commonly encountered in relation to trusts;\nCase studies illustrating successful investigative methodologies.\n\nThe speakers at this seminar are James Pirie, Associate Director and Tom Angus, Manager. Their forensic assignments are often specifically focussed on fraud investigation, identification of assets, tracing exercises, enforcement of judgments and recovery of assets for those who have suffered financial loss, or have a claim against another party.\nJames Pirie – James Pirie\nJames is an Associate Director in the Recovery & Reorganisation team, based in Jersey. He is a Chartered Accountant, qualified Insolvency Practitioner and Certified Fraud Examiner and joined the Recovery & Reorganisation team in 2015.\nJames manages a diverse portfolio of cases including contentious insolvent liquidations, solvent restructurings, complex fund winding ups and forensic accounting investigations, regularly working with other Grant Thornton’s offices on cross border engagements.\nTom Angus – Manager, Recovery & Reorganisation\nTom is a Chartered Accountant and Certified Fraud Examiner. Tom has worked within the Recovery & Reorganisation department of Grant Thornton Jersey since 2019. His experience includes working on a range of solvent and insolvent liquidations and forensic and asset tracing investigations across various jurisdictions.\nBreakfast and refreshments will be provided.\n
