SUMMARY:IoD July breakfast: Exclusive concept designs for Victor Hugo Centre revealed
DESCRIPTION:The IoD Guernsey July breakfast event, sponsored by Butterfield, will welcome Larry Malcic, Chair of the Victor Hugo Centre, who will provide an exclusive preview of the architect’s concept design for the proposed development.\nThe presentation will outline the vision for the Centre through a computer-generated ‘fly-through’, which will show how the charity and its partners plan to transform the former States Offices building into an immersive interpretation centre, exhibition and performance space and education facility.\nLarry is a highly respected international architect with more than four decades of experience in the field and has designed many significant buildings in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East and has delivered award-winning projects in London.\nLarry will discuss the educational, cultural, tourism and economic benefits of the Centre.\nVictor Hugo lived in Guernsey for 15 years; he called the island his ‘rock of hospitality and freedom’, and whilst in Guernsey, he experienced a creative renaissance and was able to pen many of his famous novels and poetry collections.\nGlen Tonks, Chair of the IoD, said: “The Victor Hugo Centre will be an exciting and immersive celebration of global icon Victor Hugo and the unique inspiration he found in Guernsey. It has the potential to build the island’s culture brand overseas, help our tourism industry, and have many benefits for the local creative community.\n“We look forward to this exclusive unveiling of the architectural concept design and the opportunity to learn about this exciting, transformational project from Larry and the Victor Hugo Team.”\n
