SUMMARY:AJC 2023 Jersey charity awards
DESCRIPTION:The Association of Jersey Charities is encouraging island charities once again to showcase their outstanding achievements and recognise their amazing individuals as it launches the 2023 Jersey Charity Awards.\nDesigned to highlight professionalism and excellence, celebrate charities’ recent achievements and champion best practice in the charitable sector, the Awards were first established twelve years ago and are held every two years.\nThere are three categories for this year’s Awards, which are once again supported by the Ana Leaf Foundation and Jersey Finance:\n\nOutstanding Achievement for a Large Charity\nOutstanding Achievement for a Medium Charity\nOutstanding Achievement for a Small Charity\n\nA £5,000 prize will be awarded to the winner of each category while there are also prizes for two runners up. The Awards will be judged by an independent panel including former States Member Paul Routier MBE; consultant and trainer in the not-for-profit sector Jane Galloway; Charles Humpleby, Head of Client Origination at Woodside Holdings Investment Management; and past Chairman and long-term executive committee member of the Association of Jersey Charities Liz Le Poidevin.\nIn selecting winners, the judges will be looking for examples of excellence, together with ideas and leadership that will inspire and from which others can learn. Winners will be announced at a special Afternoon Tea Awards Ceremony on Sunday 17th September, held in the grounds of Government House.\nThe Awards are open to any Jersey-based charity that has registered with the Charity Commission, and Island charities whose work is based overseas are also eligible to enter.\nChairman of the Association of Jersey Charities, Kevin Keen, said: “Charities in Jersey have been through a turbulent time over the past couple of years, as they have faced fundraising and operational challenges in the wake of the pandemic and now against the backdrop of the current cost of living crisis. But this has also given charities an opportunity to demonstrate leadership and innovation in how they deliver their critical services in the local and wider community.\n“The Jersey Charity Awards provide a fantastic opportunity to acknowledge that, take a step back and reflect on just what a fantastic charitable sector we have here in Jersey. So many people work and volunteer for charities without seeking recognition and it’s really important that now more than ever we reflect on the value charities add to island life. I’m looking forward to seeing another broad cross section of charities entering our Awards this year.”\nJoe Moynihan, CEO of Jersey Finance, added: “Having initially partnered with the AJC as part of our industry’s 60th anniversary celebrations two years ago, I’m delighted the money raised by finance firms through our charity fundraising initiative is supporting the Jersey Charity Awards again this year. I believe that our cohesion and community spirit make our island such a special place, something that is reflected in the strong ties between our industry and the local charity sector. I’m sure that is something that will come through strongly through this year’s Awards.”\nNominations can be made by completing the application form available online at www.jerseycharities.org, with a closing date for submissions of 10th July 2023.\n
