DESCRIPTION:Celebrate at the 15th Anniversary Concert with the Jersey Chamber Orchestra &amp; the amazing Elizabeth Watts.\nMusic in Action invites you to a celebratory 15th Anniversary Concert of the Jersey Chamber Orchestra with St Michael’s Chamber Choir and St Clement’s Signing Choir. Join us for a concert of masterworks and audience favourites, and a world premiere, led by Eamonn Dougan the chief conductor of the Jersey Chamber Orchestra.\nOpening with the fanfares of William Walton’s Crown Imperial March, patriotic melodies pour forth in a piece used at every recent coronation, followed by 3 of Vaughan-Williams Songs of Travel sung by Kathleen Ferrrier award winner Gareth Brynmor John. Listen to the musical tale of many journeys. Followed by one of the great masterpieces Richard Strauss’s Four Last Songs sung by Last Night of the Proms soloist Elizabeth Watts. Elizabeth Watts won the recital prize at the BBC Singer of the World competition and has won nearly every prize or award available for a soprano. She is a unique and special talent decribed as “One of the most beautiful voices of her generation”.\nThe second half sets off at pace with St Michael’s Chamber Choir singing and the St Clements’ signing choir signing two songs led by the world-renowned Paul Whittaker OBE by Bob Chilcott.\nThe music continues with a very special orchestral work. Commissioned by Music in Action for the Jubilee Year, sudiences will be fortunate enough to listen to the premier of Charles Mauleverer’s new symphony 5 Jersey Curiositiesor Postcards carrying the audience on a journey through Jersey painted by the sounds of music. From Sunrise over Mont Orgueil Castle, to the Battle of Flowers to the Sunset over St Ouen’s Bay this is a spectacular piece.\nOur evening will come to an end with an amazing selection of Opera Arias harking back to the orchestra’s first performance including Mozart’s Soave s’il a vento from Cosi Fan Tutte, the Papas aria from the Magic Flute and the love duet from Don Giovanni.
