SUMMARY:How to build a career in technology and cyber security for females
DESCRIPTION:Three successful women will share their experiences on their career journeys in technology in general and cyber security, in particular.\nThe Channel Island Information Security Forum (CIISF) and the Jersey Computer Emergency Response (CERT Jersey) team would like to invite girls aged between 14 – 18 to a talk presented by guest speakers Robyn Savage, Lucy Munday and Anna Garbar.\nThey will share their experiences of how they have built their careers in Technology and the field of Cyber Security, and in particular the path they all took after leaving school which led them to being highly successful ‘Women In Tech’ in their current roles. The event will be very informal and will allow those attending to listen to the very different paths each of them took and ask any questions.\nThe event will be held at the CERT Jersey offices, 1 Seaton Place, St Helier, Jersey JE2 3QL (Opposite Big J Take Away) between 1 and 2 pm on Tuesday, 31 May 2022. A light sandwich lunch will be served. Those attending will also have the opportunity to look round the new offices. Places are limited so booking is essential.\nAbout the guest speakers\nRobyn Savage is Customer Success Lead at Tessian, one of the UK’s fastest-growing private technology companies (with $130+ million in funding from legendary security investors incl. Sequoia, March Capital, Accel, Balderton).\nHaving started her career at Google, Robyn specialises in supporting clients to drive value from cutting-edge technology. She brings a wealth of insight from the eCommerce space (from her time at Google Cloud partner, Qubit) and today assists businesses across the world to protect employees from ever-evolving cyber challenges. At Tessian, she leads a team of trusted advisers to their global network of clients – focused in financial services & legal, but also extending into healthcare, technology & manufacturing – including Schroders, Investec, Arm, Clifford Chance, Evercore, Klarna and many more.\nLucy Munday is a Senior Customer Success Manager at Tessian, one of the UK’s fastest-growing private technology companies (with $130+ million in funding from legendary security investors incl. Sequoia, March Capital, Accel, Balderton).\nHaving started her career in fund management, Lucy now specialises in empowering customers across the Finserv sector to drive valuable insights from cutting-edge technology. Lucy has worked at various tech companies that have empowered businesses via their SaaS tooling. These tools have provided business insights to analytic process automation and now cyber security. As a result, Lucy brings a wealth of knowledge on how best to drive success from within one’s customer base.\n\nStudied Human Geography at the University of Exeter\nGeography was a natural segue into property, specifically fund management within the property sector\nHowever, she could see the world of SaaS was the place to be and started working with a business intelligence company.\nFrom there she has worked with ‘nice to have’ tools to ‘business critical’ tools and now ‘can’t survive without’ tools\n\nAnna Garbar is a Senior Account Manager at Tessian, one of the UK’s fastest-growing private technology companies (with $130+ million in funding from legendary security investors incl. Sequoia, March Capital, Accel, Balderton).\nHaving worked across a variety of industries and companies both in Germany and the UK, Anna now advises customers on how to maximise value and get the most out of the whole Tessian platform. Anna’s background across enterprise IT, document solutions, fintech and now cyber security across different geographies provides her with a breadth of insights and understanding of customer environments.\n\nStudied Business Information Systems (BSc) as a dual study degree in Stuttgart (Germany)\nDid an MSc in Psychology at the University of Liverpool while working full-time\nStarted out in sales at HP and Xerox, but quickly realised that SaaS and the world of startups and scale-ups was resonating much more with me\nGained some experience in the fintech space at GoCardless, before moving to Tessian three months ago\n\n
