SUMMARY:PwC Jersey Young musician of the year
DESCRIPTION:The final of this fiercely fought annual competition, organised by the Jersey Music Service and sponsored by PwC, celebrates its 30th year at the new Les Quennevais School this Saturday 12th March from 7pm.\nThe evening will showcase the very best of Jersey’s young musicians in piano, string, woodwind, brass, and vocal categories in a programme that promises an extraordinarily high standard of performance. A night that illustrates the wealth of musical talent that can be found in our small island community.\nThe finest young musicians in Jersey compete for the title of PwC Jersey Young Musician of the Year. This coveted title will be awarded to the young performer who gives the most expressive and technically accomplished performance of their chosen repertoire. Many past winners of this competition have gone on to pursue successful careers in music.\nTo reach the final, each musician has had to win their particular heat in competition with other instrumentalists of their instrumental family. Now the heat winners go head-to-head producing an array of instrumental timbres, musical styles and genres.\nFinalists this year are Taormina Plummer (vocal), Nicholas Lawrenson (violin), Eve Sproats (saxophone), Augustine Stayte (piano), and Ivan Sproats (trumpet).\nGuest performers include 2021 winner Charlie Dicker (vocal), and 2020 winner Charlotte Arthur (saxophone).\nGerlind Smith, Director at PwC, commented: “As long-term sponsor of the ‘PwC Jersey Young Musician of the Year’ competition, it’s remarkable to see the incredibly high standard of performances from the young, gifted and disciplined musicians taking part each year. Now celebrating its milestone 30th anniversary, the competition remains very well supported by the local community. All five finalists should certainly be very proud of their achievements to date and I’m confident that this year’s final will be another hugely enjoyable night of musical entertainment, at which we’ll be left amazed by the young finalists’ talents as they captivate us with their selected programmes.”\nTickets are on sale via Eventbrite at £12 for adults and £6 for students: https://pwc-jersey-young-musician-of-the-year-final.eventbrite.co.uk/ ( https://pwc-jersey-young-musician-of-the-year-final.eventbrite.co.uk/ )\n
